How can you treat a verruca?
- After examination and diagnosis, the treatment programme is always conservative
- Treatment may include shaving of the verruca or removal of the verruca using cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen) or salicylic acid
- If Mr Masucci advises electrocautory treatment this will be under a local anaesthetic in one of our chosen treatment rooms
- For warts, treatment options include caustics (acids), liquid nitrogen (freezing) and electro-cautery - under local anaesthetic in a treatment room
What happens after treatment?
- The toes and/or feet normally take a short time to heal, depending on the treatment prescribed
- You will have a dressing which will need to be kept dry for 2-3 days. When uncovered, the scab will fall off
Will there be any post-treatment infection?
- On rare occasions,(mostly if wound-care advice or treatment programme is not followed) an infection may occur usually between 1-2 weeks following the procedure
Will the verruca return?
- There may be a situation where veruccas are persistent and may return. When verrucas are treated by a podiatrist this is a more permanent is solution
- During and after treatment, the immune system helps by kicking out virus
Can I claim on my health insurance?
